First of all,why new moms should do exercise after delivery?
Through the vaginal delivery, new moms may find a lot of changes of their body.Your abdominal muscles get stretched out and the skin of your belly may look flabby. And your vagina will become too loose to grip the penis of your husband during intercourse, which makes both of you could not feel the sex pleasure.Besides, the pelvic floor muscles would be severely damaged during the labour,so they could not provide enough support for the uterus, finally leading to uterine prolapse.
Postpartum exercise may feel like an important thing you should do as a new mum, because it does have benefits.
What exercise should new moms start with?
The most important exercises in the first few days after birth are your pelvic floor exercises.Start doing them as soon as you can.
Strengthening your pelvic floor will help to protect you against having accidental urine leaks.Although sex is probably the last thing on your mind now, doing your pelvic floor exercises helps to tone your vagina. When you're ready for sex again, you may enjoy it more if you've firmed up your pelvic floor.
Pelvic floor exercises will help your perineum and vagina to heal more quickly. That's because the exercises improve circulation to the area, helping to reduce swelling and bruising. If you have stitches, exercising your pelvic floor won't put any strain on them.
How soon can new moms start exercise after childbirth?
Generally,if you exercised throughout your pregnancy and had a normal vaginal delivery, you can safely do light exercise–walking, modified push-ups,and stretching–within days of giving birth as long as you're not in any pain.
Just be careful not to overdo it.If you weren't active during your pregnancy,or tapered off your fitness routine as the weeks went on,check with your doctor or midwife before you begin exercising.
